OUR PASTOR

 

REVEREND DR. WILLIE J. BAILEY (BILL)

The Reverend Dr. Willie J. Bailey graduated from Florida A & M University, Tallahassee, Florida in 1974 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee in 1979 with a Master’s and PHD in Experimental Psychology.  He spent several years working with a non-profit mental health agency, eight years as a business owner and three years teaching at Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt University before entering the seminary. In 1998 he completed the Master of Divinity at Columbia Theological Seminary, Atlanta, Georgia, and in 2006 completed the Doctorate of Ministry at United Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio.

Having answered God’s call, he was ordained into the office of pastoral ministry at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church in 1995 in Miami, Florida.  Since ordination, he has shepherded congregations at Sellers Memorial United Methodist Church, Miami, Florida (2002-2008); Director of Mt. Pleasant/Sellers Memorial Co-operative Parish & Pastor of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Miami, Florida (2005-2008), and Rogers Community United Methodist Church, Bradenton, Florida (2008-2012).  He accepted the call to pastor at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Jacksonville, Florida, in July 2012.

Rev. Dr. Willie J. Bailey is currently a Multi-cultural Facilitator with the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church and Board Member of the Florida Children’s Home.  He is the founder & CEO of Communities Acting to Reclaim Values and Ethics (CARVE).  In the past he has served as President & CEO of Florida’s HIV/AIDS Ministries, Inc., initiated and implemented a Homeless Children Feeding project in Kenya, Africa; and completed mission projects for the poor in Jamaica.

Born in Tampa, Florida, he is married to Irene Ingram-Bailey, is the father of three adult children, and has five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
